His first singing lessons were taken at local church at the local sacred music school, during his childhood, at the streets he started learning how to play guitar empirically while watching friends, teachers or even every unknown people, there is where his music journey began.

In 1984 he registered into a propaedeutic workshop of solfege, guitar and musical appreciation at the Universidad de Guadalajara conservatory of music. In the same city he also got to learn spanish and brasilian guitar as well as classic guitar lessons by teacher Guillermo Martin del Campo.

During this time he was part of several latinamerican music forums with FONAPAS, former government institute for music, in 1985 obtains the 2nd place for original composition contest.

Influenced by his parents being a child he always listened boleros, and read Nicolas Guillen, as well as Pablo Neruda poems, besides the non comercial yet trova music from Pablo Milanes and Silvio Rodriguez at the beginning of the 80’s, when he started playing their music at famous bohemian places of Guadalajara in this years.

In summer 1993 he travels to Puerto Vallarta for vacation time, time that never ended, a full book of stories to sing and play with his guitar kept him for the last 15 years at El faro Bar, at the marina, he met Professor Salvador Rodriguez, guitarrist from the Escuela Nacional de Arte of Camaguey, Cuba, who starts giving him all the basics for developing the called “Cuban feeling”, practicing and developing with his guitar besides his musician work, that’s how in 2004 he decided to start exploring the world of instrumental music, recording his never edited first work in 2008, called “From the heart”, putting together all of his last 30 years of musical influences. With the backup of M. Oscar Terrazas Buendia from the Conservatorio Nacional de Musica of México City and a long musical experience they both started the artistical direction for this recording, including a piece of Oscar Terraza’s composition who plays soprano and high saxophone and transversal flute as well.

Actually Gonzalo performs his guitar at a well known hotel at Punta de Mita, playing for the sunset and well, sometimes for tourists... in short, this who Gonzalo Saudade is.
